Karsten Kalbitz one of most-cited UvA researchers
Five UvA professors have been listed as the most cited researchers of 2014. Dr. Karsten Kalbitz, professor in Earth Surface Science at the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) is one of them.
The Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list of Thomson Reuters is compiled each year on the basis of number of citations that individual researchers have received for published work in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. The HCR-list of 2014 contains 3215 researchers who are ranked amongst the most-cited researchers in their scientific field.
Prof. Kalbitz was appointed as full professor in 2009 to chair the Earth Surface Sciences research group. The group's field of study is found at the interface of soil, air and water in the landscape and targets the complex interrelationships between biogeochemical and geomorphological processes in terrestrial and adjacent aquatic ecosystems in relation to Climate Change and direct human impact.Kalbitz is particularly interested in the dynamics of soil organic matter as a large sink of atmospheric CO2.
