Global economic instruments

This project is financed by a VIDI-grant from the Netherlands Science Foundation (NWO). Its aim is to develop global economic instruments to protect biodiversity and ecosystem services. The research team pursues the following three key objectives:

  • development of an indicator for biodiversity as a leverage point for global economic instruments;
  • development of economic instruments for protecting global biodiversity;
  • development of moral principles for international allocation of responsibilities (burden-sharing) to protect global biodiversity.
