Geoconservation and Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA)

Geoconservation and Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA) is a project funded by the Bristol Foundation and IBED in cooperation with the Landesamt für Vermessung und Geoinformation and inatura Dornbirn.

The project aims to develop semi-automatic methods  for assessing  geoconservation potential in alpine areas. It uses massive multi-temporal high resolution LiDAR datasets and multi-temporal panchromatic, true colour and infrared ortho-photos which form the basis for developing object-based segmentation and classification knowledge rules for feature extraction. GIS-assisted evaluation criteria for weighting and ranking geoconservation potential are developed in parallel.
