I am Assistant Professor at the Department of Theoretical and Computational Ecology, which is part of the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics. I am currently Programme Director of the Bachelor Biology. My research areas include self-organization and spatial pattern formation, disease dynamics, evolution of cooperative behavior, the origin of life on earth, Artificial Life, and tipping points and catastrophes in ecosystems.
