My interests focus on how evolutionary and ecological dynamics are affected by individual life history and environmental and anthropogenic factors. In particular, during my PhD I study these dynamics on migratory populations. Migration is a biological phenomenon that has fascinated humans since early times, and in my case, fascinated and intrigued me since very early in my formation as biologist. In my research, I investigate the ecological and evolutionary impacts of damming, harvesting and reduced productivity on anadromous populations and in particular Atlantic salmon. Given the cultural and economic importance of this salmonid species, its conservation and sustainable exploitation is a major concern. However, those cannot be accomplish without understanding the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of anadromous populations under multiple anthropogenic pressures.

"Philosophy is written in this grand book — I mean the universe — which stands continually open to our gaze, but it cannot be understood unless one first learns to comprehend the language and interpret the characters in which it is written. It is written in the language of mathematics (...)" The Assayer, Galileo.
