Milan is a PhD student at the Palaeoecology and Landscape Ecology group. Her project focusses on characterizing the Neotropical ecosystems by their modern pollen spectra and their biochemical composition.
Besides doing full time research in paleoecology she is also involved in urban ecology as one of the founders of the Anna’s Tuin & Ruigte (Anna’s Garden & Thicket) project at Amsterdam Science Park.
The binding factor between the two fields is Milan’s interest in placing human impact (on ecosystems and climate change) in an evolutionary/ecologic perspective.
