Research Group of Palaeoecology & Landscape Ecology (IBED-P&L)
The Research Group of Palaeoecology & Landscape Ecology (P&L), headed by Dr. William Gosling, is one of nine research groups within the Institute of Biodiversity & Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
On-going research activity within the P&L group seeks to examine change within the abiotic and biotic components of the Earth’s system through time (annual to millions of years) and space (regional to continental). Key topic areas for research are:
- Biodiversity in the tropics,
- Dynamics of ecosystems and climate
- Interactions of environments and humans
Members of the P&L group contribute to teaching across the Biological and Earth Science undergraduate and master’s degree programs at UvA. The courses delivered by our academics have strong fieldwork and practical components and provide students with a unique spatial and temporal perspective on current environmental change issues.
New collaborations are always welcome so if you are interested in our work, or would like to visit or join us please get in touch.
