Faculty of Science
Application deadlines for Dutch students
- 1 May for students starting their programme in September
We strongly advise all Dutch students to fill out both the UvA application form AND Studielink as soon as possible and before 1 May, even if you have not completed your bachelors programme yet.
- 1 December for students starting their programme in February*
Application deadlines for international students
Please note that registration in Studielink and getting all documents ready will take several days, therefore, we strongly recommend to start the application procedure at least a week before the deadline.
Some programmes might have earlier deadlines. Always check at the website of your programme which deadline applies.
Students starting their programme in September:
- Non-EU/EEA students: 1 February
- EU/EEA students: 1 May;
Due to an increase in the number of international students and a shortage in available accommodation, we advise EU/EEA students to apply as early as possible, preferably before 1 March. Please note that even for early applicants, the University of Amsterdam cannot give any guarantees regarding housing.
If you wish to apply for a UvA scholarship, deadlines are as follows:
- Non-EU/EEA students: 15 January (Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship and Amsterdam Merit Scholarship)
- EU/EEA students: 1 March (Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship)
Students starting their programme in February*:
- Non-EU/EEA: 1 October
- EU/EEA: 1 December
Please don't hesitate to contact the International Team of the Faculty of Science if you have questions about the deadlines.
For NFP Fellowship candidates (only applicable for Biological Sciences) the application deadline is 1 December. Because each Dutch Embassy has its own deadline we advise you to contact the Embassy yourself.
*Note that only some of the Science Master's programmes have also a possibility to start in February
