Photobioreactors (PBR)

Photobioreactors (PBR) allows the study of phototrophic microorganisms under well-controlled light conditions, at a constant specific growth rate, for a prolonged time. PBR provide an experimental device in which a wide variety of environmental factors can be simulated under well-controlled laboratory conditions.

These PBR have been developed in house and are well suited for studies on the effects of different light and/or nutrient regimes on phytoplankton physiology or for instance on species interactions induced by competition for light.

  • Technical specifications
    • Various light sources available including 8 colour Monochromatic LED-light
    • Temperature controlled: range 5-50 °C
    • PBR volume ranging from 200 mL-2L
