This research theme aims to elucidate the environmental fate, availability and adverse biological effects of hazardous chemicals in aquatic ecosystems. Key questions are:
Integrating environmental chemistry with ecotoxicology, we use advanced analytical approaches in lab and field experiments to generate novel insights and understanding necessary for preserving and restoring aquatic ecosystems. Experimental responses are determined from the gene level up to the population and community level, and results are of major relevance in water quality management.
