Pollen lab
Extraction of pollen from sediments. Photo: IBED

The pollen preparation laboratory contains space for sub-sampling sediments collected and equipment (including fume hoods and centrifuges) suitable for the processing of a range of microfossil samples. Preparation of samples for pollen (modern reference material, and fossils from sediments/rock) is the bulk of our work, but we also routinely process samples to extract other microfossils (e.g. diatoms) and macrofossils (e.g. seeds and leaves).
