I am a behavioural ecologist with a particular interest in avian communication and cognition. In my current project at IBED and UvA, I investigate whether avian predators (great tits) make irrational decisions when choosing prey, and if so, how this could affect the fitness and communities of their insect prey. To test this, I run behavioural experiments on wild-caught great tits in a field site in Finland. In paralell, I study the role of bird odour in  intra- and interspecific communication.
