Ecosystem and Landscape Dynamics (ELD) staff primarily support the BSc Biology and BSc Future Planet Studies degree programs; but also support BSc Chemistry. In our teaching we seek to provide students with opportunities to gain new theoretical and practical experiences with the field of natural sciences.

We are keen to get students involved with laboratory and field activities. Staff members within ELD make leading contributions to the following bachelor level courses:

BSc Biology

  • Ecosystem dynamics
  • Ecotoxicology
  • Palaeoecology
  • Tropical ecology

BSc Future Planet Studies

  • Analysis of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
  • Desertification and land degradation
  • Climate change and sea level rise
  • Food production
  • Future perspective on the Earth
  • Measurement strategies
  • Soil and crop quality
  • Soils and environment
  • Water management
  • World ecosystems

ELD staff also supporst bachelor student research projects. These projects range from investigations of climate-vegetation dynamics, through soil properties, to tracking human impacts on ecosystems; and often include a laboratory or field practical element. Follow the links to see examples of recent projects undertaken by bachelor students doing Biology, Future Planet Studies and Chemistry. If you are interested in doing research for your bachelors project within ELD please check out the staff pages and contact the member of staff you are most interested in working with directly.
